Tips for a Fun and Safe Halloween

Halloween is a time for spooky fun but ensuring a safe trick-or-treating experience is essential. Here are some key safety tips to keep in mind:

  1. Visibility is key: Equip kids with flashlights or glow sticks and opt for costumes with reflective materials. It’s essential to ensure they’re easily seen, especially in low-light areas.
  2. Stay on well-lit paths: Stick to familiar neighborhoods and well-lit streets. Avoid shortcuts through alleys or dark areas.
  3. Check costumes: Make sure costumes fit properly to avoid tripping hazards. Avoid masks that limit visibility and use face paint instead.
  4. Inspect treats: Only allow children to eat factory-sealed candy. Discard any homemade or unwrapped treats unless they’re from trusted friends or family.
  5. Walk safely: Remind children to look both ways before crossing the street and always to use the sidewalk. Groups should stay together, and an adult should accompany younger children.

By following these simple precautions, you can ensure your Halloween is fun and not fright!

Recruitment Corner

The recruitment team is wrapping up this summer in style with several community and family appreciation events. In the first few days of August, TFI participated in the First Lady’s Back to School Bash for foster families in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Then, we shared our appreciation for Tulsa area families by sponsoring admission for everyone to the McClure Municipal Pool on August 3 and August 10! On August 17, TFI showed love to the Oklahoma City area by sponsoring admission to the Will Rogers Family Aquatic Center. In Kansas, our families gathered at Pittsburg Aquatic Center on August 6 for a family pool party with refreshments and door prizes. In Texas, we will be set up at the Healthy Living Expo in Grapevine on August 23 to serve the community and share the need for more foster homes. Finally, we were so excited to celebrate our families in Nebraska with an end-of-summer party on August 24!
