What started as a simple connection at a local church’s Vacation Bible School turned into a life-changing journey for Amanda and Jon, who recently adopted two brothers, Colton and Chance, after years in the foster care
system.
Amanda first met the boys in July 2023 while leading a Vacation Bible School class. She soon learned that Colton and Chance, who had been placed in separate foster homes, were struggling with the challenges of being apart. Their grandmother, wanting to bring them closer to family, reached out to Amanda for help in finding them a permanent home.
Initially, Amanda and Jon were unsure about taking on such a significant responsibility but after learning more about the boys’ story, their hearts opened to the idea of adoption. In October 2023, Chance was the first to move in, followed by Colton a few weeks later.

The transition came with challenges but the family remained steadfast in their commitment. “I will admit that it was a little strenuous on our marriage, but only for a short amount of time,” Amanda said. “I just kept praying.”
On December 15, 2023, the adoption was finalized, officially making Colton and Chance a permanent part of the family. Now, the brothers are thriving in a loving, stable home.
“Every single day, they amaze me,” says Amanda. “They have grown so much in such a short amount of time. They are truly amazing kids and I am so blessed to get to be the one to raise them into wonderful, young, Christian men. They stole my heart from the beginning and I can’t imagine loving them more than I do right now. God has a big plan for these two boys.”
Their story serves as a testament to the power family and the belief that every child deserves a place to call home.
